Barbosa Müssnich & Aragão has helped Petrobras enter a joint venture with ethanol producer São Martinho.

The deal closed on 21 June, with Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados advising São Martinho.

The Petrobras Biocombustíveis subsidiary paid US$239 million for a 49 per cent stake in the joint venture company, Nova Fronteira Bioenergia.

This deal is the latest move by Petrobras in the ethanol market. In May it bought 46 per cent of Grupo Guarani for US$911 million.
