The manner in which Corinthians signed fading star Ronaldo for his services on the football field this year has been acclaimed as highly creative and as such typically Brazilian by Carlos Perrone, president of and partner in the Peppercom agency. The Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice lawyer, Ivandro Sanchez convinced that it can be repeated so as to bring other big-name players back to their homeland. Fabiano Farah, executive director of Ronaldos own self-marketing group R9, claims that such a contract has never been signed before. Corinthians has deliberately brought a massive star on board to attract sponsorship and has agreed to split such income with the player himselfAnother star player set to return is the home-sick ex-Emperor, another almost peerless centre-forward, Adriano, keen on pulling on the red and black hoops of Brazilâs favourite side Flamengo. The contract details could well resemble those thrashed out by R9 and Corinthians with stand-in club president Delair Dumbrosck stating publicly that a commercial partner has expressed interest in paying part of Adriano salary. Swapping Inter Milan for the Rio-based giant, the striker can expect to earn almost R500,000 per month whilst said partner would be able to use his image for free in its own marketing efforts. This commercial strategy of bringing back a star player slightly ahead of schedule from Europe could be pulled off by any of the big four clubs in Sao Paulo, any of the big four in Rio, the two main clubs in Rio Grande do Sul, Gremio and Internacional, and the two main clubs from Minas Gerais, Atletico Mineiro and Cruzeiro.
