Madrona, Hong, Mazzuco - Sociedade de Advogados has helped Brazilian securities company BTG Pactual acquire the country′s biggest independent energy trader, Coomex.

In the deal, which was announced on 21 September, Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados and Trench, Rossi e Watanabe Advogados advised Coomex and its partners.

This is the second move by BTG into the energy sector in just a few weeks, after BTG Pactual Gama bought oil and gas services provider Brasbunker Participações on 1 September, taking counsel from Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr e Quiroga Advogados. 

The three former Coomex heads will now join BTG as partners and continue managing the energy trading business.
