Felsberg, Pedretti, Mannrich e Aidar Advogados has hired a new partner and two associates to its project finance, infrastructure and environment practice.

Fabrizio Sasdelli is joining Felsberg Pedretti as a partner, coming from an associate position at Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados. He says the move was not an easy decision but was definitely the right choice.

"I was in the fast track programme at Machado Meyer, which is of course a great firm. But I felt that there were already too many partners in my practice and thought that I would have a more challenging experience at Felsberg," says Sasdelli.

Felsberg Pedretti lost two partners from its project finance and infrastructure team in March - Ricardo Sanches and Thiago Flores moved to Dias Carneiro Abogados, which has an association with Spain′s Uría Menéndez.

The choice of Sasdelli was an easy one for Felsberg Pedretti when looking to expand the team, since he had worked in the firm between 1999 and 2006, before joining Machado Meyer.

The move is not daunting for Sasdelli as the project finance and infrastructure division of both firms work with similar, if not the same, clients and deals.

The environmental element of the practice, which is unique in Brazil, is also important to him, who considers environmental law to be very important to many major infrastructure projects.

"If you think about the Cuiabá pipeline project between Bolivia and Brazil the environmental impact was enormous. This element is becoming more important with each project," says Sasdelli.

It is additionally important because project finance and infrastructure are growing fields in Brazil. The upcoming World Cup and the Olympics, Sasdelli says, are just one part of a much larger infrastructure investment story.

Felsberg Pedretti has also taken on environmental law specialist Fabricio Soler from Siqueira Castro - Advogados, and infrastructure law specialist Lucas Pedreira Lapa, from Emerenciano Baggio e Associados, who both join as associates.
