Private equity investment fund General Atlantic has retained Pinheiro Neto Advogados to advise on its investment in a Brazilian provider of software and services for the retail sector.

Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados advised software company Linx on the investment, which closed on 26 July for an undisclosed sum.

Linx will use the investment to accelerate its growth in Latin America, as well as expand its research and development capabilities.

This is the second round of private equity investment received by Linx, which also counts BNDESPAR - the investment arm of Brazil′s development bank - as one of its shareholders.

Eduardo Paoliello, an associate at Pinheiro Neto, says the investment will allow General Atlantic to ′enjoy the growth′ in the Brazil′s booming retail sector.

Pinheiro Neto is regular counsel to General Atlantic, recently advising the company alongside US firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP on an investment in Brazil′s first collective buying website in May. Peixe Urbano drew counsel from Fenwick & West LLP and Lilla, Huck, Otranto, Camargo Advogados.

Machado, Meyer also has experience advising General Atlantic, helping the world′s twelth largest private equity fund acquire a stake in Brazilian healthcare brokerage Qualicorp - the first investment by the investor′s Brazilian fund.

To date, General Atlantic has invested some US$1 billion in Latin America over the past four years
