Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados has helped French tyre maker Michelin purchase a Brazilian bicycle and motorcycle tyre manufacturer, consolidating its position in Latin America´s largest economy.
Family-run Levorin and its shareholders are working with Souza, Cescon, Barrieu & Flesch Advogadosfor its sale. The company was founded in 1943 by Hercules Levorin. It had an annual turnover of US$152 million in 2015 and employs 2,000 people in São Paulo and Manaus.
The value Michelin paid for Levorin was not disclosed.
The sale hands Michelin three Levorin subsidiaries. The deal, which was signed on 26 August, must be approved by CADE to close.
Michelin has operated in Brazil since 1927.
