Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice has been conferred by International Financial Law Review (IFLR) the “National Law Firm Of The Year Award 2009 for Brazil”. Similar recognition is given to major law firms in countries such as Argentina, Canada, Chile, Mexico, United States and many others in Europe and Asia. The IFLR is a British publication on the market for more than 20 years. Machado, Meyer is the only Brazilian law firm to win this award three times (in 2006, 2008 and 2009).

The awards ceremony for the Americas was held on March 25, at the Waldorf Astoria, in New York. Partners José Roberto Opice and Flavio Meyer received the trophy on behalf of Machado, Meyer. According to the firm´s CEO, Nei Zelmanovits, “we are very happy with the award. It´s a great incentive for us and our team. We hope to continue deserving the same trust from our clients in new challenges and projects”. 

Additionally, IFLR chose the “Deal of the year” in 7 categories. Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice rendered advisory services to the winner deal in the “Debt and equity-linked” category, in which we acted for the banks Morgan Stanley and Citibank in the BNDES bond issuance. Besides, the firm has advised Anglo American in the acquisition of MMX Mineração e Metálicos, which was indicated for the M&A deal of the year.
