Accenture, the largest consulting firm in the world, has announced plans to buy Brazilian company ATAN, a provider of industrial information technology and automation services.
Announced on 15 May, it is Accenture's first acquisition in Latin America and in the BRIC countries.
Accenture was advised by Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados. Partner Adriana Pallis says: "It was a challenging transaction because the negotiations and the transaction documents had to reflect that the most relevant assets of the ATAN are intangible assets related to technology and automation solutions."
Pallis says that it was also interesting to deal with different cultures: "Although Accenture is present in Brazil with its own business, it was the first time they were purchasing an ongoing business in Brazil. On the other hand, the founders of ATAN are individuals entering a "new world", a global company with strong corporate governance principles and a particular business model," she adds.
The value of the deal is confidential.
