Rex Participações Hoteleiras - part of Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista's EBX Group - has bought the Glória Hotel in Rio de Janeiro.
Lobo & Ibeas Advogados represented Rex while Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados advised the selling shareholders.

Rex bought the hotel's parent company, Industrial de Grandes Hotéis, from individual shareholders for US$40 million in a deal that closed in early November.

Pátria Investimentos, a Brazilian investment bank, acted as financial advisor to the selling shareholders in the transaction.

The Glória Hotel was built in 1922, in Rio's historic centre, in sight of the Sugar Loaf, Corcovado Mountain and Guanabara Bay.

EBX Group is the parent of leading mining group, MMX.
