Shearman & Sterling is advising Marfrig Frigorificos e Comércio de Alimentos on a international takeover in Brazil.
Brazilian beef manufacturer Marfig has agreed to pay $900 million for the Brazilian and European operations of Grupo OSI, a processor of beef, pork and poultry products.
The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2008. There are certain regulatory issues still pending, as well as continued due diligence on the matter.
Alberto Luzarraga of Shearman´s New York Office is leading the team in the deal, along with Andrew Jánszky in São Paulo and Lois Moore, from the firm´s London Office.
