Machado Meyer Advogados in São Paulo has helped LATAM Airlines get a US$224 million refinancing for a fleet of eight Airbus aircrafts operating in Brazil, Chile and Japan.

Watson & Farley Williams in London advised US bank UMB as trustee in the deal, which closed on 17 January.

It is understood that Norton Rose Fulbright also advised LATAM, while White & Case LLP in New York and Japanese firm Nishimura & Asahi helped MUFG as a structuring agent, but Latin Lawyer could not confirm this prior to publication.

LATAM obtained the refinancing for a lease of eight Airbus aircrafts of model A320 that are operated by LATAM’s Brazilian, Chilean and Japanese subsidiaries: Tam Linhas Aéreas; LATAM (Chile); Tam Linhas Aéreas; and LS-Aviatian 17.
