Machado Meyer Advogados in São Paulo has helped Spanish telecoms giant Telefónica sell its data centres in Brazil to an investment management firm for US$112 million.

Brazilian firm Graça Couto Advogados and Clifford Chance LLP in Madrid advised the buyer, Asterion Industrial Partners. Spanish firm Uría Menéndez is also thought to have advised Telefónica, but this could not be confirmed by Latin Lawyer prior to publication. The deal was signed on 8 May.

The sale of Telefónica’s data centres in Brazil also involved a housing services agreement between Telefónica Brasil and the buyer. This agreement is aimed at ensuring the continuation of Telefónica’s business-to-business services to its customers.
