Five Brazilian firms have confirmed their role in Odebrecht’s divestment of transport assets worth a combined 2.5 billion reais (US$618 million) as the company battles with debt.
In the first of two big-ticket deals, Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr e Quiroga Advogados helped Japanese conglomerate Mitsui lead the majority stake acquisition of Rio de Janeiro railroad concessionaire SuperVia from Odebrecht.
Mitsui bought SuperVia through its subsidiary Guarana Urban Mobility (GUMI), which it controls. West Japan Railway Company, which has a 49% stake in GUMI, hired Dias Carneiro Advogados for the transaction.
