Sidley Austin LLP in London, Los Angeles, New York, Shanghai and Washington, DC, Machado Meyer Advogados in São Paulo and Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enriquez SC in Mexico City have helped Japanese motor manufacturer Nidec purchase the Brazil-headquartered air compressor business from home appliance company Whirlpool for US$1.08 billion in cash.
Whirlpool relied on Linklaters in London and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in London and Washington, DC. The deal was signed on 24 April and is expected to close in early 2019.
