Machado Meyer announces the arrival of Guilherme J. S. Leal as a new partner in its Environmental, Crisis Management, and Climate Change practices. With more than 20 years of experience in environmental law, Guilherme has built a distinguished career advising clients in strategic sectors, particularly energy, oil and gas, and mining, on highly complex matters of significant importance to their businesses.
His experience spans environmental litigation, strategic disputes, and the management of complex environmental crises. In recent years, Guilherme has focused on climate risks, integrating the climate agenda into operations and corporate governance, regulation, and environmental licensing. His international academic background includes studies at University College London and George Washington University, and he also co-leads the Climate Technical Committee of the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS).
Guilherme joins the firm’s partnership team in Rio de Janeiro and will help strengthen the office’s capabilities. His arrival expands Machado Meyer’s ability to provide integrated, multidisciplinary legal advice on the environmental and climate challenges affecting companies across different sectors, in line with the firm’s full-service approach and commitment to strategic legal solutions.
